(JKDC), based in Brooklyn, NY, was established in 2008 by Artistic Director, Joyce King. Fresh, creative, passionate, and constantly evolving, JKDC captivates its audience with a unique blend of contemporary movement that theatrically displays portraits of relationships in action. These narrative portraits are an aesthetically pleasing, transformative experience for the audience. King’s movement commingles every day gestures with technical and athletic prowess while drawing upon personal experiences, world issues, and emotional journeys. JKDCs dynamic use of space and energy within the movement has evoked audiences to describe the repertoire as "thought-provoking", "emotionally moving" and "physically athletic".  It is the mission and hope of JKDC to inspire audiences to contemplate their own lives through providing a compelling dance experience that will stay with them for years to come.
